Hi Harish You may be totally honest and helping the artists from Nepal to entertain Nepalese in the US. You should actually start charging the artists or the commisions. Your kind of treatment would not let develop professionlism among the artists from Nepal who would try to find ways to be totally dependent on others, be it fooding or lodging or rides. Applying for visa definitely costs money. You need to verify the artists profile which costs money and the sponsoring agency charges money. There are costs every where, whats wrong if you also charge? How long can you go on by bringing the artists here in the US for free ?? You can not keep your status by doing such altruistic things for your pals. If you do not charge, you are not being professional. OK, You may perform with them but how much would you make ? You need to pay for the hall, the sound rentals, the sound engineer and other nitty gritty things. You have to travel between cities which costs hundreds of $$. And when you start totalling it becomes a lot. And the money you make from selling tickets looks so miniscule. To enhance the professionalism among the Nepali Entertainers, one should break the habit of doing things for free for them. You are kind of spoiling them !!! All the professional should be charged irrespective of what they make. Make sure they read and abide by the contracts so that you can show the results to the US government proudly. I totally agree with those people who experienced that the artists seek "juwai" like treatment from the organizers. It may be some of the artists who seeked like that but it kind of leaves impressions that all the artists are of the same category. Also the novice organizers should be made aware of the fact that the artists should not take things for granted. They need to be independent and act like professionals by demonstrating appropriate behavior. One thing for sure, the artists apply for the Social Security Number as soon they land in the United States and this makes other people suspicious that the artists are going to stay here, which is not wrong. If I can stay, why not they? Its their personal choice. And if they perform illegally without legal permit and do not pay the income tax, thats a crime. BUT, Harish, stop doing things for free ! I respect your songs and talents but you also need to grow up. If you are providing service, fees are expected. PS: I said, IF.
