Its a good start but far from complete. With the marking system like ours, people will sooner or later find out who scored the highest marks and would start advertising it in newspapers anyway. I am not saying that advertising what you have got is bad. But we are talking about hundreds of thousands of students whose exam papers are examined by thousands of examiners who may have different marking styles. So, in a way, the toppers may be a lucky few. They must be intelligent and hardworking, which I dont deny , but you need that bit of luck to have your exam papers examined by some liberal examiners to score highest of marks. So what is the point of celebrating the top-10 status when the score is more or less scored by so many others? The best thing to do would be to have a grading system in a band like A+ , A, B+ B etc to make it more fair.
