i am not very wellversed in this matter. and neither have i studied indian history. i am just saying this as a bystander. i dn't think separation is a good idea. i don' think separating shiites and sunnis for control over different regions in iraq a is a good idea. i don't think separating sudan and giving one side to teh rebel while the government keeps other is a good idea. i feel this is only a temporary solution and sooner or later, the embedded differences/conflicts/tensions between two people somehow shows up. the most apparent exampe: israel and palestine. but india and pakistan have separated fifty years ago. they cannot merge back together again. at that time, may be if they had worked togeter, perhaps we would not be seeings o many problems, but the people, while they believed so feverntly in their god, just cannot get along with one another. now, all that enmity remains as the cause of the cold relationship, teh blasts, all the tensions, and the most recent example, the death of 130 innocent civilains. my only question is, for how long will tehy tolerate this? if india controlled kashmir is muslim populated, then why cannot they just come to an agreement and let the pakistani government take hold of kashmir. as far as giving up kashmir goes, india did give up pakistan and bangladesh back in teh day. . india gave up because of all the violence and chaos that was breaking out. may be its time to repeat history. if giving up that share of land will protect so many civilians in the future and create a roadmap towards long lasting peace in the region, then would not that be a better choice? everything comes at a price. and giving up control of kashmir is not separation. it is just handing over the muslim populated region of kashmir to pakistan that has nearly 98% muslim population. may be i am being oblivious here. i dont know. but since this little region called kashmir has given birth so much destruction, may be its time to solve the crisis once annd for all. and to answer your last question, i would never want maoists to take establish thier regime in any part of nepal. separation creates problems. that is my belief. but india and pakistan are two different states now.
