This from Kathmandu Post: Bharat Keshar episode: Angadawa receives death threat By Jitendra Sah KATHMANDU, June 23 - The main victim of the brawl between King Gyanendra's honorary ADC Bharat Keshar Singh and his sons, and local people at Lainchaur last Tuesday, Angdawa Sherpa has said that he has received death threats from Singh's men. "If he opens his mouth, we will finish him off," Sherpa quoted the unidentified men who relayed the threats through his close friends, "We are looking for him." "I have remained in my place at Jorpati for the fear of the threats," said 32-yr-old Sherpa, a climbing guide and trainer with the Himalayan Adventura, Durbar Marg. He is originally from Harisebagachol – 9, Khotang district. He also said that he has taken the situation seriously and would write an application to the Chief District Officer requesting security for his life and property. Meanwhile, Valley Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Deepak Thangden, has said that the Sherpa family was in regular contact with the police and that necessary security would be arranged. Earlier on Tuesday evening, irate locals of Lainchaur had beaten up Singh and his two sons in the scuffle that erupted after Singh's car hit Sherpa's motorcycle in front of Hotel Malla. The irate mass had also torched Singh's car. On Thursday, Sherpa, who claimed he was injured by the beatings of Singh, his sons and daughter-in-law, filed a complaint against the Singh family at the Sorhakhutte Ward Police Office. Saying that he was feeling dizzy, feverish and had throat problems after the incident, he also sought compensation and a public apology from the Singh family over the incident. According to Sherpa, Singh’s car, which was behind his bike stepped on his leg on Tuesday evening. "I was beaten up by the Singh family when I requested them to drive carefully," he said. Police Headquarters on Thursday formed a three-member committee headed by DIG Ravi Shrestha to investigate the incident. SSP Krishna Bahadur Rana of the Crime Investigation Department and SP Keshav Adhikari of the Valley Crime Branch are the members of the committee. The committee has been ordered to submit its report "at the earliest." Posted on: 2006-06-23 02:18:10 (Server Time)
