Nepotism in Kathmandu University

In a university sysyem in many countries aroud the world , a teacher is given 5 to 6 years to show their competence (teaching and research skill) and only then they are given a permanent position. This tenure system is misrepresened in above reporting as: "...hard working sons and daughters of Nepali motherland are fired after many years of back breaking service..." Or to say that as in the ParewaNews "..Ku has provision of getting rid of people with 7 years of service..and so only with with Chakari are retained" Well, these are false reporting. The problwm is that these rules are so different than anything that TU applies and so people have hard time understanding this. KU needs to do a better job in communicating this to the media. (Of course, a fair treatment in promotion based on the merit is essential.) Additionally, I also humbly request PankoPat to post other competing views on his/her blog to give readers a balanced opinion. www.changeinku.blogspot.com He has cut and pasted only his writing that starts with Dear SaritaJee... It would be nice to have what SaritaThapa's (me) opinion. If we are trying to have a healthy debate then he needs to do this. Finally, if politics enters KU through unions then that will be the day KU will look more like TU and other politically infested institutions. ST
