Well, let's call spades, spades. Newars are communal. But so are Gurungs, Tamangs, Rais, Limbus, bahun, chettri, etc. etc. Thakuris are communal even within their chettri caste. Bahoons, like baboons, have their own clan too and expel anyone who ventures out... eg. jaisi, khas, etc. Fact is, we are all clannish and communal. One way to look at it is, we are proud of our heritage as we should rightly be, but another way to look at the same is, we are to discriminatory and fragmentory. Until our society reaches the level of civilization where there is enough inter-caste marriage and intellectuality, we will continue to suffer the divisions.
