He acted to prevent the collapse of monarchy but helped only to accelerate the failure process. Had Gyanendra not taken a move against the political parties, the political parties would still have been fighting against the maoists. Moreover, political parties were always in favor of ceremonial king. However, a blunder by Gyanendra prooved too costly for the future of monarchy. Now the pressure is on to remove everything that deals with monarchy. First, why do we need Gyane's face in the money bills? Second, why should we still praise him in national anthem?
