I very much agree that the recruitment in any foreign army should be banned. That historical basis sometime argued in favour of it does not exist any longer. It is simply a matter of employment opportunity. If the Ranas had not allowed the Gorkhas to be recruited by the British and continued it even after the independence of India, one thing is certain ---- you would not see the monopoly of a few castes in the government today ---which, in turn, is another reason for dissension that potentially enabled the Maoists to bank on.
