the great conspiracy was that the Mao's were trained and habored by the Royal Nepalese army till 2001. Then with the sudden death of King Birendra things changed drastically. King G saw a great opportunity to grab power for himself using the Maoist insurgency as a scapegoat, coinciding with the 9/11 attacks in the USA and terming them as terrorists(which they are) ... the Mao's now felt betrayed and changed their policy towards the Monarchy and hence the demand for a Constituent Assembly and Republic... Politics is a very dirty game... and sometimes they reap what they sow.. The recent people's movement is only a temopary victory for the SPA , the King and Mao's have alot more up their sleeves...
