In some instances ideas of Ph.D errupts from not being able to get a job and unwillingness to return home without any accomplishments in life. How about accomplishments back home? The question may be aroused. Answer to that my friends is complicated considering the basic infrastrcuture of the country. In some cases desire of Ph.D comes when you are pursuing the BS degree, the methodology and the ideas and the motivation towards the research fields could drag you from the job market to Ph.D. Not being able to get H-1 and joining the grad school and leading towards a Ph.D can be observed in nepalese society. Either way "KNOWLEDGE IS POWER"
