Nepe Sir, Couldn't help writing something in response to your post. I hope we will be able to carry out a decent conversation this time without getting "personal" this time. Yes, you are right: The "revolution" is aborted. Now it will be Sher Bahadur and the 7 parties running the show. So what changed? Nothing. The parties brilliantly exploited the masses and got what they wanted. The parties proved that they are more "autocratic" and "power hungry" than some of you blamed the King to be. At least, he proposed elections next year so that we could choose our representatives. But the parties, afraid of elections for two reasons wanted to revive what they themselves proposed to dissolve!!! First, they did rightly believe that the people will not elect them again. Second, since they were out of the system for a long time, they did not have enough money for "fohor chunab prachar prasar". Ajab Bangal Gajab Nepal. The parties are happy. The nation is screwed! What did we the people gain? Nothing. 19 days of agitation, hardships and all that just to bring the people we loathe to power. I don't think the Maoist problem will be solved anytime soon . It will get even worse now. The political parties joined hands with the Maoists to achieve their own political ends. Now they have achieved what they wanted, the tactical alliance with the Maoists too, is aborted. This is indeed a sad situation for Nepal. The political parties who have no leadership, no concrete plans and who can't even look beyond their interests, will make the matters worse. Don't expect the Maoists to give up violence now just because the "burgeoise" parliament is revived. It is easier to remain outside the system and say whatever comes to your mind, but once you are inside the system, you will have to adjust to the system and follow the system's norms. Sher Bahadur will be our new PM, and he will continue with his "hard line" policies towards the Maoists. Girija will criticize and pressure Deuba. Then Deuba will be forced to resign. Girtija will be PM again and will be following Deuba's policies. Deuba will then criticize Girija for not doing anything.. And the govt. will change again. Give us a break!!! how many more years of this instability!! Also this has established a bad preecedent in politics. It is probably the first time in the world in the last 50 years where the Supreme Court's decision has been overruled by the leaders using street violence. I don't think this happens anywhere in the world. A nation without any respect for the judiciary is indeed a screwed nation. I feel really sad that 15 people died and countless injured for nothing. The parties proved again that they are oppurtunist to the core. If they had either "fully" joined the Maosist, or the KIng against the Maoists, then the nation would have experienced some changes. But for at least 5-7 years, the situation will continue to deteriorate. The only positive thing that might come out from this revival is that the people would now fully realize how bad these leaders are, and we might see an increase in either the Maoist supporters or the King supporters. Believe me, the next andolaan will be teh most decisive one.The next andolaan will either ask the King to assume full control again, or have the Maoists in power. The parties have, by focsing on their petty power aspirations, shot in their own legs. Parties should now brace themselves to face the "wrath" of the people whom they have shamelessly exploited again and again. behaal cha!
