Namaskar, The present scenario in Nepal and the political instability seems to get worse day by day. Innocent Nepalese are being openly threatened and terrorized by the Maoists on one hand and the Government on the other by suppressing the popular peaceful movement of political parties. If you are/were/fear torture from the Maoists if you go back to Nepal or if any of your family member has been threatened in writing or in any other measurable way you are eligible for asylum status in the US. If you were member of sister organization of a political party (except for any communist parties) and are/were/fear torture or threat from the government, you are eligible for asylum status in the US, leading to a permanent residence in near future. We are organizing an interaction for Nepalese asylum seekers on May 12th or 13th in San Francisco, California. We will have a speaker on Asylum Law, an experienced asylum attorney, Mr. Bill Kadarusman, for free consultation. If you are interested please let me know and pass this information to anyone you know who is need of consultation and wants to attend or even share their success/pending/rejection stories. We are looking forward to meet as many asylum seekers we can so that we can assist then in attaining their goals right away. At the present scenario of Nepal, we assume that asylum status will be granted to all Nepalese in the US, if applied on time, in a proper manner and through appropriate representation. We may be able to help you regardless of your status, period of stay and wherever you have been residing or working in the US. If you cannot attend the session just because you are unable due to work or residency in another state, please let me know and we will forward you with the information we have gained. If there are significant numbers of Nepalese in need of asylum in another state, we may be able to arrange an interaction in your state too. Asylum should be applied within one year of your last visit to the US. If you are in a situation, where you have exceeded the one year limit, you may still have chance to file given proper filing procedure and by producing evidences. For your information; •Asylum may be granted to people who are already in the United States and are unable or unwilling to return their home country because of persecution or a well-founded fear of persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion. •If you are granted asylum, you will be allowed to live and work in the United States. You also will be able to apply for permanent resident status one year after you are granted asylum. •No limits are set on the number of individuals who may be granted asylum in the United States. •To be eligible for asylum in the United States, you must ask for asylum at a port-of-entry (airport, seaport or border crossing), or file an application within one year of your arrival in the United States. You may ask later than one year if conditions in your country have changed or if your personal circumstances have changed within the past year prior to your asking for asylum, and those changes of circumstances affected your eligibility for asylum. •You may also be excused from the one-year deadline if extraordinary circumstance prevented you from filing within the one-year period after your arrival, so long as you apply within a reasonable time given those circumstances. •You may apply for asylum regardless of your immigration status, meaning that you may apply even if you are illegally in the United States. •Asylum applicants can apply for employment authorization after wait 150 days after filing for asylum.
