Ok, is this a continuation of an "oppressed" attitude or I am totally out of my mind here? I was in a new year show in Denver, Colorado yesterday. The program sucked because it has same stuff I saw growing up. It had dances of gaule and gauleni, sherpa and sherpini, jyapu and jyapuni and so on. I truly believe that the autocratic regime fostered it to keep "cultural" awareness so that they would divert us from the real problem. Now that we are trying to be not oppressed, we need to do more than that. I am not saying that those cultural programs are useless, but man, don't we think that it is time we think past those cultural programs? How often you see Gujrati dance and Marathi dance and Bihari dance in Indian functions? Or how often do you see Native American dance or Aztec dance in American shows?
