Thousands take out protest rally in Pokhara, a demonstrator shot dead Reports from western town of Pokhara say situation remains tense in the beautiful tourist town following the death of a pro-democracy activist, Bhimsen Dahal, on Saturday. Radio reports said Royal Nepalese Army personnel stationed to guard Nepal Telecom office in Pokhara opened fire killing Dahal, an activist with the pro-UML student body. Thousands of people are taking part in a pro-democracy rally in Pokhara and are chanting anti-government slogans, reports said. Demonstrators are clashing with police at Naya Sadak, Pokhara near Chipledhunga, a journalist on the scene told Nepalnews over phone. Details are still awaited. There are reports of similar protest rallies being organized by the supporters of the opposition parties in various parts of the country. nepalnews
