I went to Knoxville of Tennessee couple of years back during summer. I found it more like kathmandu than any other cities I have visited so far. It's a valley surrounded by mountains just like Ktm. Temperature not too high in summer (around 90s) and yeah cold breeze is just like that in ktm. There is a popular mountain called smokey around 40 miles away from the valley downtown, which reminded me of Nagarkot. Land is cultivable and they produce maize and mustard primarily. Check out this place, its close to KTM in most of the things.
