Just my thought. Jimmy Carter is a personality with a lot of weight. What I believe is if he offers to mediate between the King and the Maoists means that there is a lot of focus on the issue world wide. US will not try to overact in any ways if Carter is involved. They will not attempt to play around with their policy since Carter is involved because they have a lot of Respect for Pres. Carter. I mean looking at Carter and US, US will never say or do anything that will not concur with Carter. Pres. Carter is a very respectful man. He was awarded Nobel Peace Prize for his contribution towards peace which was not in the best benefits of the US. So I would assume that US Policy will sideline if Carter comes into Picture. Till now US has favored for the monarchy, but once carter mediates, US policy will be soften towards the Maoist. Maoist will also not want to screw this opportunity, they have a good chance of comming out of 'Terrorist' Label of the US. I just hope that the king and the royalist understand the weight of this event and act towards the benefit of Overall Nepalese. Hope for the Best, and its in May, a month from now.
