Chatmandude, As a Law student who has seen horrendous lawyers from up close, my honest advice would be to look up the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) chapter in your state. AILA is a national entity that works exclusively on immigration issues and the local hapters have a list of all attorney's who are members of AILA. The reason I recommend the webiste is because they have a vetting process before you can be listed and having an AILA listed attorney hopefully diminishes the risks involved. If you can let me know what state you are in, I will try and see if the lawyers I work with know of folks they can refer you to.
