A poignant picture. This picture reminds me of an even harsher picture that was doing the rounds in the past: The one where a dying child, on his own, was trying to crawl to nowhere, and a vulture standing nearby watching. The only consolation is perhaps this kid in the above pic is in a better position than that kid. But that is the height of optimism and is not going to help us in any way. One of the reasons help is not forthcoming is due to the fact that rich people are simply not aware of the scale of poverty that people in third world have to live through.
