We're probably no different than him coz' we are ready to accept the citizenship here provided given a chance (we've to give up nepali citizenship once we accept another citizenship as Nepal doesn't allow for dual citizenship). Regarding Siddartha Gautama, at that time Nepal didn't exist. It was divided into many smaller kingdoms. Moreover, he doesn't believe in the whole theory of country. So for him, he doesn't care about this concept of country, even the country that he was supposed to be king. For him, all the countries are same. So, there's no way to compare this case with that of siddartha gautama.
