When civilization starts it starts from a ground; that ground was Islam for Muslim civilization. I don't know how true Kooran is, however, Kooran provided discipline to Muslims and that discipline made them to progress in science, art and commerce. Even though I have read long ago, I still remember the experiment that Muslim did to prove that the earth is round. They built a multistoried tall tower at the sea shore and sailed away from the tower. They found that as the distance increased they couldn't see the lower part of the tower. On going still further they could only see the top of the tower and finally tower went out of the vision. They repeated the experiment at night with lights at different heights of the tower and found the same effect. This was only possible if the earth is round, ie spherical.
