Hey Pink, Lemme provide you a suggestion as well. Looks like all you care about is your DATA from your hard drive and currently you are not being able to boot from your CD/DVD drive. Try this: Disconnect the hard drive off your computer (Its pretty simple, all you do is unplug it from power cable inside the box and slide it out of its slot). Find a good working machine (may be one of ur fren's), and plug your hard drive into that computer. This should be the secondary device for that computer (Email me if you want to know how to change primary and secondary devices). Then turn that computer on. It MIGHT show up as another storage device under My Computer. Now, this will happen only if there was an OS problem and not a bad boot sectors on the hard drive. Give this a shot!!! If this doesn't work, I'm almost convinced that the hard drive has many Corrupt Sectors and the only way would be to try and repair it (by using tools like Disk Doctors etc). I have had few bad experiences with MAXTOR harddrives and looks like you have one of those. Let me know. Peace
