Govt to provide Rs 4.5 million to Singh Kantipur Report KATHMANDU, Jan 31 - The government has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 4.5 million to Bharat Keshar Singh, the chairman of World Hindu Federation (WHF). This is the first time that the government has sanctioned such a heavy amount of assistance to any individual, said a government source. The royal government had already granted an assistance of 1.2 million rupees to Singh earlier, immediately after the King’s take over on Feb 1 last year. Singh actually had demanded 9 million rupees from the government, to celebrate the silver anniversary, of the WHF, and the cabinet had decided to provide the assistance to Singh on the basis of general request on a plain paper, said the source. The cabinet has also decided to provide 5 million rupees to the Ministry of Communication and Information. The cabinet has ordered the Ministry of Finance to allocate Rs 17.5 million to implement the projects assured by the King to the people during his recent visit to the eastern region. The government is also said to be mulling over establishing a “Students trust” to provide financial assistance and loans to pro-government students.
