communism, if you think about it, is not that far off from an absolute monarchy
sure, supposedly it is 'the people' who are the direct rulers in a communist state
sure, supposedly it is 'the peasents' whose interests communism safeguards the most
but the fact is,
stalin (or for that matter, any subsequent power inside the kremlin) didnt have to wait in bread lines
mao never had to support himself on a half-acre of land
communism calls for a central authority to oversee all economic activity
for a set of 'guards' against the evils of capitalism
but, as the old adage goes
who will guard the guards?
that has, and will always be, the biggest problem with communism
the suceptibility of being hijacked
so dont get overtly carried away by the communist rhetoric
sure, i will concede that the movement probably does contain its share of idealistic young people who wish nothing but good for the country and for the people in general
just remember
once the revolution was over
neither guevera nor trotsky were given much of an opportunity to contribute
