You can't have both ways - both you Gyane supporters & Girija/Makune supporters.... To Girija/Makune supporters first. Manisha as an individual has the right to speak her mind (not sure how big that mind is), so no need to berate her for doing so. Aren't you fighting for that right? Sure her opinions are biased because of her mantri-father (I would like to hear the Koirala family politics from insiders like John Galt) but it's a view nonetheless. Although self-centered celebrities like Manisha might think that they can sway public opinion one way or the other because of the publicity they generate, the ultimate impact is probably nil (might even be negative because it offends so many people). Manisha is not the first nor she is going to be the last celebrity to inject himself/herself into the public policy debates. Better to ignore her than take notice. Now to Gyane supporters. You guys claim to be anti-Indian nationalists. Manisha is not the best spokesperson for your cause i.e. making local election successful (sorry guys, it ain’t happening). In my view, Manisha is more an Indian/Dhoti than a Nepali. She has become what she is in India. Because of that she probably has more affinity to India than even the most pro-Indian Sadhbhawana cadre - otherwise her buddies in Bollywood will ostracize her by calling "Namak Harem"). Just because she was born in a blue-blooded Nepali family does not mean that she knows/understands Nepal. She has probably spent most of her adulthood in Bombay and elsewhere but not in Nepal. She could have made up for her geographical distance by dating an "authentic" Nepali guy like John Galt :-) but as far I as I know, she has not - she had flings with Indians, Muslims, Whites and Blacks but alas not Nepalese. She may even disdain Nepal. I have read that when ANA had convention in Atlanta in 1998 (?), a south Indian group (the Bangalore-techies) also had a convention there. At the Indian venue, Manisha along with couple of Bollywood celebrities entertained the crowd. ANA officials knowing that she was in town invited her but she declined because, guess what, ANA could not afford her fees (someone please verify this story)… Now’s that’s the standard-bearer of the anti-Indian Nepali nationalists… what f***ing hypocrites.
