Of the current crop, definitely Nepathya and 1974 AD are the best; Nepathya for their novelty and the constantly changing sound and 1974 for the quality of their music. Some other, like Mukti and Revival and Robin and the NewRevolution, also are very good musically, but their lyrics and for most songs, vocals could be better. Having said that, I always cringe when I hear Chudaina by 1974. Nice melody, nice vocals, but "Chudaina timro maya le yadi timinai yaha nabhaye....samma metinna mera man ka trisna haru....yadi timi najik nabhaye samma..." C'mmon guys, there could have been better choice of grammatically correct words. And there are a few other examples too. Of the older bands, surely The Himalayans (or is it The Himalayan Band) comes to the top of my mind. They were the pioneers. I really liked the very first album of Cross Roads. Then they faded out. And does anyone remember a band called Sparsha?? Their album Naulo Yatra was one of the very first 'pop' albums to come out, as far as I can remember. Two songs in that album really stand out. The title track and "Aankha" . Aankha roi diye jalera sapana haru Bandhan bhatkidiye chalkiyera aanjuli ka chahana haru Sayad man jodinnan Jodiye daag dekhinchha Euta premi ko chahana ko upahas djerai dekhinchha or something like that..... Nice to remember old times and old songs...
