Hukka That's the general and easy perception about Marbury. Okay, the dude didn't lead any team to championship, but you have to also analyze did he actually made the team worse as everybody claims?? Marbury started his career with Minnesota in 1996-97 season. Prior to this season T-wolves were 25-56 team. Marbury played for T-wolves for 3 years until which they were above 40 wins team (last season they fell down to 25 because of strikes, they were 50%). But since Marbury was getting limited time and wasn't at his prime, you can discount T-wolves from hiis career. Marbury's real career started with NETS. He joined Nets on mid 98-99 season. This season they had 0.320 winning record. NETS roamed around this percentile for next 3 years he was there, so he didn't do much change. Marbury joined Phoenix 01-02 season. They fell down to 36 wins from 51 but next year reemerged with 44 wins. 03-04 season he joined Knicks around which time Phoenix was again down to 29 wins only. Marbury is 6-2 point guard who has career 20.5 points and 8.2 assists per game, has been highly durable and made All-star 2 times. He set the record in Olympic Basketball for most points. How many other 6-2 guards can boast that record? A.I., and...??? Not too many. Then why does everybody think Marbury makes this team bad? Surfacial analysis. Whichever team Marbury left, it got better. But they fail to realize what happened after he left. Nets got better undoubtedly with Kidd, but you have to remember K-Mart and Jefferson had matured to top level by that time. Also Kittles provided extra boost. Had Marbury been there, would they have recorded same winning percentage? Probably not, but the record would have been better nevertheless. Players mingled well with Kidd than Marbury and that was his problem in the beginning of his career. When Maruby left Suns, they got better too..but Marion fostering and Stoudemire playing real solid that was destined to happen. Ofcourse Nash has made this team top-notch but don't tell me with Marbury there they would have really sucked. He is not the best point guard. He isn't Kidd or Nash, but he has changed a lot. He listens and is very less selfish now, heck..Brown was upset for him not taking shots. He still can take control of a game, he is probably best suited for shooting guard, but he ain't that bad of point guard either. Bottom line, if he doesn't desrerve all the acclaimation then he also doesn't deserve to be branded the worst one either. Coming from a Knicks fan, I am okay with Marbuy staying with Knicks for another 5 years.
