Nepali Bhaiji, You have already covered 3 years of approximately 8 years of waiting time. If the visa availability moves at current rate, your visa number becomes current after 5 years. As of now Priority date is 01 July 1998 which means the cases with I-130 approval date before July 1, 1998 can apply for adjust status (if they are in the US) or apply for LPR (if they are doing consular processing). If you are outside USA, you will have to wait for another 5-6 years to apply for permanent resident status through consular processing. If you are in the USA, you should be careful not to overstay here. Recently, I read at - http://www.murthy.com that only approved I-130 doesn't allow a status to stay in the US if there is no other non-immigrant status for that person. I mean you must maintain one of the non-immigrant status (e.g. F1 or H1) until your priority date becomes current.
