4 Dead Nepalese

Well Nepalnews says they were driving from "New York to Dallas" ... they couldnt even read the news right.... weird... anyways...here is the latest on the accident:- Four Nepali students, Amrit Dhital, 21, Subash Gurung, 20, Pralad Gurung, 22, Pukar Acharya, 21, passed away in a head-on collision with Betty Langford, 72, shortly after 1:00 p.m. in Leon County, Texas, on Friday, January 6, 2006. The four were in a rental 2005 Dodge Stratus heading northbound on US Highway 79 from Houston, TX to Tyler, TX while they collided with Betty Langford’s 2004 Jaguar heading southbound. Mrs. Langford had attempted to pass another vehicle (on a bridge) and hit the 2005 Dodge Stratus carrying the Nepali students, according to the Department of Public Safety spokesman. Amrit Dhital and Subash Gurung were wearing their seatbelts, while Pukar Acharya and Pralad Gurung were not. Betty Langford was also wearing her seatbelt. All were pronounced dead at the scene, except for Subash Gurung, who was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m. at Fairfield Regional Hospital in Fairfield, TX. Subash Gurung, Pralad Gurung and Amrit Dhital were students at San Jacinto College, Houston, TX, while Pukar Acharya was a student at the University of Texas, Tyler, TX. All four had arrived in the U.S. on January 2004 from Nobel Institute. In Nepal, Amrit resided in Banepa, Dhulikhel, Subash in Bijuli Bazar, Baneswor, Pukar in Battish Putali, and Pralhad in Bansbari, in Kathmandu. They were previously students at Lewis Clark State College, Lewingston, Idaho. Subash and Pralhad Gurung had transferred to Houston after the summer of 2004. Amrit had transferred at a later date. Nepalese Association of Houston, along with Nepalese Society of Texas (Dallas) are arranging funerals for these four young departed souls on Monday, January 9th, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. for Pukar and Amrit, and 4:00 p.m. for Subash and Pralad in Van, TX, west of Tyler, TX. A Nepali punditji will be present to perform the ceremony. Please make every effort to attend the funeral service and pray for the eternal peace of the departed souls who are on their way to the heavenly abode, as well as express your sympathies and condolences to the members of the family of the deceased.
