bisa20, people on F2 visa can not really work (one reason: they're not allowed social security numbers now). EAD is employment authorization document (which you get after applying). in the case of green card, there has to be an employer who is willing to give you a job & sponsor a green card for you. after you have the employer, you apply for the card and EAD. hope that answers your question.
