Southwest Minnesota State University is offering grief counseling after three young people from Nepal were killed in a crash in Watonwan County yesterday. The state patrol says the three were passengers in a car that tried to make a U turn from the right shoulder of the road and was Broadsided by another car. Southwest Minnesota state confirms that 19 year old Utshav Basnet and 20 year old Bedija Kharel were current students, while 20 year old Nishma Timilsina was enrolled at the school last spring but was not a current student. SMSU has over 200 international students, with the biggest population coming from Nepal. It's really shocking for all of us, that we can't do anything and now what we can do, is send the body home, because we don't have a proper ceremony here, the least we can do is some fundraising to send the body back home. Three other people involved in the crash are still in the hospital. 17 year old Rachel Thompson of Clarks Grove is in fair condition. 27 year old Jeremy Dorpinghaus of forest city, Iowa, is also listed in fair condition. And, at last report, 82 year old Leroy Sydness of Jackson is listed in good condition. If you would like to donate to help the Nepali students send the bodies of their friends home, you can call SMSU at 1-800-642-0684 and ask to donate to the international student services fund.
