JAMES, Minn. — Three young people from Nepal died after a two-car crash in southern Minnesota on state Highway 4 south of St. James. The State Patrol in Mankato reports the three were passengers in a car that tried to make a U-turn from the right shoulder of the road and was broadsided by another car Tuesday. Those killed were: Utshav Basnet, 19, Nishma Timilsina, 20, and Bedija Kharel, 20. Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall confirmed that Basnet was a student there. Officials were checking whether the other two victims also attended the school. They were in a car driven by a 17-year-old girl from Clarks Grove. She and another passenger were taken to a Mankato hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available. The 82-year-old man who was driving the other car is in good condition at a Madelia hospital.
