For those stone hearted ones, more evidences that an innocent sister of ours was brutually killed. CID not to question Sarkar over skeleton OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT Agartala, Dec. 13: The Tripura CID will not interrogate chief minister Manik Sarkar over the recovery of skeletal remains from his official residence, director-general of police G.M. Srivastava said today. “The question does not arise because the skull and bones were not recovered from the septic tank of the chief minister’s own quarters but from the septic tank of the staff quarters behind his residence,” Srivastava said. The Tripura unit of the BJP today waded into the controversy, demanding Sarkar’s resignation over the issue of the recovery of the remains of a teenaged girl from his official residence, reports PTI. It also demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court. State BJP president Ranajoy Deb, in a statement, said, “It is clear that the chief minister is directly or indirectly responsible for it, which is a matter of grave concern for the people.” Sarkar should resign as he could influence the inquiry if he continues to hold the post, Deb said. The skeletal remains were recovered from the septic tank in the chief minister’s residential complex on January 4. The Left Front government has entrusted the state CID to investigate the matter. At a news conference organised by the Tripura Journalists’ Union at Agartala Press Club, Srivastava added a new dimension to the raging controversy. He claimed there was nothing new in PCC president and former chief minister Samir Ranjan Barman’s revelations about the identity of the victim. “The photograph released by Barman was advertised by the state CID for information from the people. However, the name Mina Thapa is an addition,” Srivastava said, adding that it would be in the interest of the state if Barman came forward with whatever he knew about the girl’s identity. http://www.telegraphindia.com/1051214/asp/northeast/story_5595684.asp
