While political turmoil in Nepal keeps bringing less and less tourists, this kind of incident does not help at all. I recently visited kathmandu, and was talking to one of my uncles who works for the tourism sector in Nepal. According to him, sexual harassment, mugging and murder of tourists have started to increase in and around Kathmandu Valley. He believed that the rise in drug use among Nepalese, and the overly crowded kathmandu with increase in unemployment rate have a lot to due with crimes towards tourists. While reading this news, one thread posted here in Sajha a few months back came to my mind. It was posted by a tourist who wanted information on whether or not it was safe to travel alone in Kathmandu. Self-acclaimed, or sajhaites-acclaimed bidhwans like Sitara and many others thought kathmandu to be very safe and some what mocked the poster. But it looks like that is not the case anymore. Very soon Kathmandu is going to resemble Bihar if it has not already.
