Based on human civilization so far, Democracy is the best form of governance. Democracy is not immaculate either, however when it is tailored based on the geopolitical system, it is the only sytem that has a power to bring peace, harmony and social justice. The beauty is, it has to be made dynamic so that it can evolve over a time period and rectify its own mistakes. We were in the same phase of recognizing and rectifyng during 12 years of democratic governance. People elected crooks like khume and Govinde and one day would have punished them. Our society is a morally corrupt society. Deal with it.People who made quick bucks were always revered by their relatives, friends and society in general. How many of us has literally ostracized any person known to us who has amassed wealth by illegal means. Put your hand in your heart and ask how much have we done to change this mentality. We all must have one or two corrupt kaka, dai, sasura or bhai NONE. I have not read a single news where "Ghusyaha" are ostracized. Forget about the present government, it is even worse as it has awarded a murderer. Corruption was rampant in panchayat, however only "a few" had that opportunity. After 1991, the commners got a part of it . You can not blame democracy for it. Unless we change, the corruption aint gonna end in Nepal. But we can make tough rules to reduce it. How people who live in the US and use all the benefits of a free society can advocate and support an autocratic regime is interesting. These byproducts of the medieval feudal system can make the way to democracy a bit trechorous, but soon their shame and hypocracy will wipe them out.
