Guzmoon, Some of the merit based scholarship should have no concern with your visa status. Check with your international student advisor/ or admissions office whoever decides scholarships. It might be different in different schools. I don't know how your school decides in your situation. Delicate, there is no pain in taking TOEFL. It's good idea. But what i was saying is... you can start as non-traditional student for a couple of semester, and when you apply for admission later, they mayn't ask TOEFL because your simply did well in those courses.
