Nepalese, on business visa, lands in trouble Sagar Magar, 27, who arrived in Doha on September 9 this year has been asked to pay a fine of QAR 12,000 for overstaying. After paying a huge sum to a manpower agency back home to get a menial job in Qatar, but when he landed at the Doha International Airport on September 9 this year, no one was there to greet him. According to a report published in The Peninsular, Magar met a fellow countryman who wisely offered him food and shelter until he found his sponsor. But another bout of shock was awaiting Magar as he was told the visa he was issued was a business visa and not for work. Not aware that the validity of the visa was only 14 days, Magar stayed on with the kind-hearted compatriot, busy looking for a job, which he did not get after all. When he decided to go back to Nepal, he was told by the authorities concerned at the airport that he could not travel until the fine was paid. Not knowing how to organise this huge sum, he contacted the embassy of his country in Doha for help. The business visa was actually issued at the behest of a company and the embassy contacted its officials to know details, but in vain. Embassy sources say this was the fourth case of a poor worker being cheated by manpower agencies in Kathmandu in such a way.
