I dont see there should be such a big fuss about the language thing. Its of course a good thing to know as many languages as possible for everyone. For the Nepali people who are born and/or brought up in US, all I can say is you don't have to be ahamed or feel bad about not knowing how to talk in Nepali. Languages are not that hard to learn especially when you have a passion to learn. So I would suggest them to try to learn nepali, at least try to speak in nepali with parents or whoever who knows nepali at home and in the neighborhood.
