La DADA bro, here is news (kantipuronline bata liyako ho hai ) -------------------------------------------------- ANFA adjudged best Asian FA ------------------------------------------- KOL Report KATHMANDU, Nov 22 - The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has been short-listed for the Best FA (Football Association) of Asia, according to an ANFA statement on Monday, The Kathmandu Post reported on Tuesday. Along with ANFA, the Japan Football Association and Qatar Football Association are the contenders and the AFC Awards Gala 2005 to be held at Manderin Oriental of Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur on November 30 will decide the winner. Nepal is the only country being nominated in any category amongst 12 from the South Asian Region. The AFC has decided to confer Kawabuchi Saburo of Japan as the AFC Diamond of the Year while other 11 categories are to be decided at the November 30 Gala. Likewise, Hong Kong, Lebanon and Korea Republic are fighting for the AFC Fair-play Award while there has been no nominee for AFC Coach of the Year, the report said. Meanwhile, Manchester United's Park Ji-Sung and other European-based stars have been barred from the Asian Player of the Year award because they cannot travel to Malaysia to pick up the trophy. Asian Football Confederation released its shortlist of three players for the award, but some of the hot tips to win were missing. On the list were talismanic striker Sami Al Jaber from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, seasoned campaigner Maksim Shatskikh, an Uzbek who plies his trade with Dynamo Kiev and a relative newcomer Hamad Al Montashari of Saudi Arabia, fresh from his successful AFC Champions League title-winning run for Al Ittihad. But missing was South Korea's Park and Bayern Munich star Ali Karimi, who won last year. Celtic midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura and Bolton's Hidetoshi Nakata were also notable absentees. All where among the final 10. The AFC said it had made its criteria clear at the outset, that if players cannot come to Kuala Lumpur for the ceremony on November 30 they are out of the running. The player of the year is chosen by national coaches from AFC's 46 federations and executive committee members. Other awards to be presented on the night include national Asian team of the year, with Iran, Japan, South Korea and Saudi Arabia in the running. Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates and Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia will fight it out for team of the year. The Asian woman's player of the year will be decided between China's Ma Xiaoxu and Hara Natasuko and Nagasato Asano, both from Japan.
