Naxalite alert in India A red alert has been declared by the police in Bastar due to the apprehensions that Maoists can cause "large-scale violence", I.G. Bastar range M Ansari said, Times of India reports. He told TOI that recent actions of Maoists had led to apprehensions that they could disturb festivities following which all police stations in the zone had been alerted. The Maoists had killed a person at Medhao village in Bijapur while he was returning after attending Ram Lila. They had also attacked the Ram Lila pandal and later killed one person. Another person was killed at Cherpal village, Ansari said.
