The argument against gay marriage all too often is that allowing gay couples to marry somehow threatens the institution of marriage for the heterosexual couples--I think this says a heck of a lot more about the insecurities of the straight people than it does about the desires of the gay couples to make the committment. Granted the notin of gay community initsels is something that makes certain people want to go back to living in caves...but that is their choice--you wish to live a life of utter denial go right ahead! The gay community has as much of a claim to the legal privileges that marriage gives that the rest of us do--there is no reason---other than the "moral" one that allowing gay couples to marry means that marrige is ruined for everyone and all the kids that gay couples will adopt will also be gay---it is an argument lacking all semblance of reason and logic.
