Hi NK, It's good to see you emerging with a question this time.I will try my best to answer that with my limited nomenclature knowledge.Maya,Uma,Dharma to name a few westerners have it seems embraced some of the names from the east.Did you have Maya Angelou in mind while writing that?Because thats the only name that clicks me so far. My guess is the recent popularity of eastern philosophy/mysticism in America had played role in that.The entrance of yoga and meditation in the mainstream popular culture makes these words common among the enthusiasts.And ofcourse maya has a good meaning as well.Illusion..but we use "Maya-jaal" more commonly...my guess...
