I firmly believe all racism and casteism - both overt and covert - need to be confronted and condemned but if you engage in such practices yourself you loose the moral authority to condemn others and become a hypocrite. Again, the way to confront all forms of racism/casteism, I feel, is to deal with the perpetrators, take them to task, give them hell if you have to, but if you join the ranks of the perpetrators yourself by resorting to violence or abuse then you will only have strengthened their hands.
