Okay SnakeBite Bhai, Stereotyping is very bad. That's all I can say and it's even sadder when that's coming from an educated young man like yourself - I say, educated assuming that you are in the US/UK studying! Okay, a lahure doesn't make every Pun a Lahure. Accepted and by the same token, a Chaure (I will use this term for analogy's sake!) does not make any Tom, Dick and Harry or in the more friendly colloquial parlance, any Raamey, Shyaame, Kaale, a Chaure. Other things being equal, they can all be Lahures for all the reasons in the world. And what makes you think that we, Lahures, are all dumb airheads who cannot and by your implication, should not speak 'tough English'. That to me, Bhai (I call you Bhai because I think, I have seen enough world than perhaps you have, and yes, that's being in the British Army) is nothing more than an insult to the way of life we lead. One's grasp of the English language is irrelevant here. I have got an honours degree in literature - who cares. And a friend of mine who is a Lahurey like myself in the Brit Army is halfway through his Phd from a UK university and is currently in New York conducting research. Who cares. Aren't we all the same, after all? Believe me, you're not the only chap who've hurled such comments my way - I do come across a few blank faces with gaping mouths when I go home on leave as soon as I tell them what I do for a living. And that's fine, and I can live with that - live with the age old ingrained mindset that people find it hard to shake off. What's not on - yes, you heard it - not on for me is when people start making vague reference about us in a derogatory sense. And for your info, I take immense pride in being in the British Army as do a lot of my cousins and my uncles before my generation who're still serving or ha've seen life in the Queen's army. Comments such as yours do hurt me and the pride that I hold dear to my heart. So, that's a little nudge for you next time you throw such remarks to any one, Lahurey or not. This case is closed. I can have only so much. This is Monday, for Christ's sake. Ps: On a lighter note though, if you happen to be in my part of the world, I'll be happy to take you around the place I work - the Royal Military Academy Sandhust in Surrey, Englad. And let you see for yourself to see if indeed I was what I claimed to be what I was.
