redstone, Right u are. And holding your concept as the true one, what do you think would happen to the flag when they were erecting the pole in the moon? The flag would get part of the angular motion from the pole and tend to stretch as the force is distributed parallely to entire flag surface. The stretch would be similar to the waving of a flag under breezy condition. Once "jerked" the flag will continue to "blow" for a longer period than in earth atmosphere, hence it is possible that the flag appeared "blowing" even moments after it was erected. And trust me, friction does exist there up in the moon surface. Only thing missing is earth atmosphere and high gravitational pull of the earth (u already know moon has lesser pull).
