Friction = u * N Where u is the coefficient of friction (a unitless entity) and N=normal force pushing the two objects together. Taking air out of the equation doesn't do anything to the equation. So, friction exists in vaccum too, as long there are two surfaces that are not perfectly smooth. DWI, khoi k ho tha chaina, im not a physics student. BUT when i finished watching the Conspiracy Theory on FOX yea, about 2 years ago, right after that, they justified all. AND during that they mentioned NO FRICTION and because of friction, there is no drag, thus the flag will never stop flapping as it would not rub against anything, wehreas on in atmosphere, the flag will rub against air and slow down flapping and eventually hang! :P
