OKji, Don't regret not having a child picture. The reality is that millions of Nepalis don't have one and this situation will continue for many years to come. Besides, you had a profoundly purposeful, enriching and inspiring childhood to be proud of it in every way. A picturesque childhood if I may. I wouldn't be surprised if some day your childhood story is adapted to make a movie that bags an Oscar ! *** *** *** My picture was taken at New Road's famous studio 'The Photo Concern' several decades ago when my family went to "Shahar" (Visiting Kathmandu is called 'Shahar jaaney' at and around my place) to visit the extended family (maaiti and maawali) of my mother which has came to visit "Nepal" (visiting Kathmandu would be "Nepal jaaney" from my mamabhar). I also remember the occasion for the fact that it was the first time I ever watched a movie. It was probably at Ranjana Hall and the movie was "Saavan Bhado" starring Navin Nishchal and Rekha as I now know. I was bewildered to see the giant sized people on the screen and specially rapidly changing "settings". I was thinking of the movie as some live performance behind the holes of the wall from where some light was coming (behind the audience) and the screen as a big mirror in front of us. Two decades later, I was myself on the big screen (in Brikuti Mandap Hall) ! Nepe
