Dashain is a time for reconcilliation and peace. From a practical point of view, there can never be peace without reconcilliation of different governing forces. The trident of politics that is buried deep within the common Nepali's heart need to come together so that the pointed ends are facing inside instead of outside. Right now, the King is hurting nepal with his autocratic rule where he and his family are above the law. The Maoists are hurting nepal with thier forceful recruitments and mercyless killings. In the middle, the political parties, seem like vultures waiting for that 15 months of fame where they will get to put enough money in their pockets to last for next 5 generations. If the Maoists and the Political parties are able to get rid of the king. There will be too much struggle for power between them. Right now Maoists have a stronghold on more than 50% of rural Nepal. Would they be willing to let go of their hold simply because they agreed to partner with the political parties in order to get rid of the king? What would be the ensuing rule of Maoist and Democratic Government be like? Anyone with firm feet on the ground can tell that that's not an ideal scenario at all. It would be even worse that it is now under the King's rule since that scenario could mean and ensuing civil war that never ends until the heart of nepal is burnt out of recognition. The only solution I see is that these three come to the table and talk it out and agree on something. It would be easy if their common goal was for the betterment of the common nepali, but unfortunately it's not so this is going to be tough, but it seems like the most hopeful scenario that we can hope for. With this, the powers of the KING will have to be curtailed drastically since he's going to have to agree to be under the law, and not getting millions of dollars every year out of taxes. Instead of supporting a never ending civil war, let's all support reconcilliation and a coalition of the three forces which are currently turned in opposite directions instead of turning towards each other for the common goal of benefitting our country and our countrymen. In this vijaya dashami let's toast for the victory of practical thinking for Nepal and Nepali, rather than impractical, biased, one track point of views.
