At 19,000 people killed in Pakistan alone and over 42,000 injured. Watching this was surely a sad news. Even the modern buildings which we assume to be earthquake resistant were flattened to the ground, let alone the mud houses. It was 7.6 on the Richter scale. But, the one thing that crept on coming in my mind was "WHAT IF" such a disaster were to happen in Kathmandu. JUST THINK!!!! And, it really makes you eerie. I think it's high time we learn about disaster management after an earthquake and more wisely, curbing it's effect. It is a fact that the more smaller quakes occur slimmer is the chance for a big earthquake because it realses the tension in the tectonic plates to be released in small doses and causes less damage. Thus, in total amount to very little damage then if were to occur in one big blow. I think the Kathmanduities should seriously consider going over the checkpoint in such a situation. It is to be taken that Kathmandu Valley is an earthquake prone zone and a significant one happened some 15 years ago. It's high time we do something about it. Isn't it?
