It really does not matter whether buddhism sprouted from India or Nepal. Once he fled from Tibet, Dalai Lama lived in India as refugee along with his many countrymen. And also it happens that many prominent things related to Buddha are currently located in India... so I am not surprised to hear him saying like that. One thing to notice in his speech: He made mockery of Americans in his speech!!!!! Rutgers might have decided to confer him PhD degree... but Dalai Lama cleverly spoken that such degree has no meaning, in a funny manner may be!!! It's just perhaps white race diplomacy to confer phd to Dalai lama to make America look better while in the other side it's America bullying everywhere inthe world accumulating demerit points all these years. Overall I liked his speech. Specially when he said he doesn't care being formal in delivering the speech... Very true, why formal or informal? Which one among these two is the one about frankness and truthfulness? He questioned if being formal is simply a acting liek an actor !!
