Plan to link capital with Birgunj by rail Himalayan News Service Pathlaiya, September 15: King Gyanendra today directed the DDC officials to work to implement a concept of constructing electronic railway network linking Birgunj and Tatopani to Kathmandu. The King had granted audience to the chairmen and vice-chairmen of the District Development Committees of Narayani Zone at the Zonal Administration Office, Pathlaiya, in course of an informal visit of the zone. ?We have developed a concept of linking Birgunj-Kathmandu-Tatopani through electronic railway network and this must be implemented in coordination with the neighbouring countries,? King said. If the capital is the heart of the nation, outer districts act as nerves for the country, he said. King instructed the present DDC officials to prioritise service of the people. He also instructed the officials to implement the development concepts as per the wishes and needs of the people, keeping in mind that public service is true service for the nation. The King also stressed on the need for providing security to industrial sector with the combined efforts of security force and civilians. Four DDC chairmen and five vice-chairmen were present during the audience. Makawanpur DDC chairman did not show up during the audience. Queen Komal accompanied the King in the visit. Earlier, the royal couple spent almost two hours interacting with the people who had gathered at the road to welcome him. The King also met district administrators, security personnel and other high ranking officials of Bara district. Meanwhile, the royal couple reached Birgunj today afternoon.
